Pangea was a supercontinent that existed over 300 million years ago before the continents were separated into their current configuration, but to me, Pangea is a symbol. From my Special Education vantage point, it can often feel as though I am separated by oceans from my fellow educators. We want to share ideas, but are subject to the educational equivalent of continental drift. Teaching does not have to be an “island” profession; we have the technological resources to reach each other, to span the distance between us.
We can build a supercontinent of educators, a metaphorical Pangea. Bridging gaps between educators will bridge gaps that exist in our classrooms and homes. Our children will receive what they need through our coming together. Through correspondence, through virtual proximity–Via Pangea.
